Acqua Passata

« Acqua passata » is the name of eight trios or quartets for flute, violin, guitar and violincello recorded in eight chapels along the river Rhône, eight oases of spirituality and repositories of my compositions. These works will be performed in public concerts in Valais throughout 2013. « Acqua passata» sings its music in French  and German in my heart, the heart of an Italian immigrant's son. GKN

Comte's Serenade (8'34)
Recorded in St-Maurice on 24th June 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Guitar : Grégory Scalésia
Cello : Nicole Karlen

Composed at Gravelone Hospital in 1997, this trio is dedicated to Pierre-Alain Comte, my occupational therapist. He has contributed enormously to my life and, as he is an amateur flautist, this serenade reminds me of him.

Blue Shades (7'04)
Recorded in Raron on 29th June n 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Guitar : Grégory Scalésia
Cello : Nicole Karlen

Recurrent themes in my quest «Impressionniste», the trio of “Amies» (Caroline and Nicole) was created (almost improvised) at the Collège des Creusets in June 2012. The guitar took the place of the piano, which had been envisaged initially. It's a long story told with various rhythms and tempos .

20, Rue Prévost-Martin - Milonga (3'03)
Recorded in Hérémence on 1st July 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Violin : Manuel Voirol
Guitar : Pascal Reichler
Cajon : Stephan Montangero
Cello : Yuram Ruiz

My brother Philippe's hideaway, this address, which has since became mythical, hosted musical nights for New World illegal immigrants «Los Errantes». I invited myself to their perpetual party by composing this Milonga to the memory of Philippe Kummer.

20, Rue Prévost-Martin - Tango (3'30)
Recorded in Le Bouveret on 5 th July 2012

Violin : Manuel Voirol
Guitari : Pascal Reichler
Cello : Yuram Ruiz

Forever dedicated to that scandalous «Île» (“Island”) lost in the middle of Geneva - City of Calvin - this Tango assembles all the sentiments which roam in this inner courtyard. Intoxication, sensitivity, lost and artificial paradise all brushing with death…Philippe, aristocrat adrift.

Rainy sonatine (6'41)
Recorded in Grimentz on 20 th June 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Guitar : Mathieu Constantin
Cello : Nicole Karlen

Recollections of a summer's afternoon at the Mayen de la Zour, I composed this trio thinking of the old life, «Impressions of bygone days» in the winter of 2012.

Largo Vagabond (5'57)
Recorded in Verbier-Village on 15 th July 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Violin : Manuel Voirol
Guitare: Pascal Reichler
Cello : Yuram Ruiz

This largo «A la mémoire d'un…Ange» (“To the memory of an Angel”) is revisited in a guitar version such as it was initially dreamed of and created at Sion Cathedral for the gruesome 19 th July 2010, the day when we had to say “Adieu” to my brother Philippe .

Florentine Ballad (5'41)
Recorded in Montana-Village on 3 rd July 2012

Violin : Manuel Voirol
Guitar : Pascal Reichler
Cello : Yuram Ruiz

This work was the central movement of a first concerto for violin composed for the inauguration of SuvaCare in Sion in 1999. I had just returned from my second long stay in China. The first theme of this ballad illustrates my nostalgic passion for Florence in Tuscany. The work, which has become indispensable in my creation, also exists in a guitar version .

Red silk (10'21)
Recorded in Naters on 16th July 2012

Flute : Caroline Delessert
Violin : Manuel Voirol
Guitar : Mathieu Constantin
Cello : Yuram Ruiz

This triptych dedicated to Fan Jin Jin… «An old soul» in a «Music box». Between the flute of an eternal, serious and enchanting China, and the carefree and ingenious «Pizzicati» of a «baroque-styled» violin weave in and out of a mischievous bass guitar at the same time, under a carpet of crotchets from a metronomic cello like time which flees inexorably.
